Norton woman killed in Sunday crash on I-95
A woman has lost her life after a serious crash this morning.
According to Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 4:45 a.m. today Troopers assigned to State Police-Foxboro responded to reports of a single vehicle crash on Route 95 Northbound at mile marker 9.8 in Mansfield. State Police responded along with the Mansfield and Attleboro Fire Departments.
Upon their arrival they located a 2012 Honda Accord that crashed into a guardrail in the Mansfield Rest Area. The operator, a 34-year-old Norton woman, was suffering from serious injuries. She was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and the operator was the sole occupant of the Honda.
The scene was clear at 7:10 a.m. and no lanes were closed as the crash scene was limited to the rest area. MassDOT will respond at a later time due to damage to a utility pole, guardrail, and traffic sign.
The exact cause and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police along with the Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, and the Bristol County State Police Detective Unit.
