A local man is facing multiple charges and citations after a pet dog was killed this week.
According to police, on Sunday, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers responded to 21 Rosedale Street in North Providence for a hit and run collision involving a canine.
Upon arrival, officers observed a Cocker Spaniel lying in the roadway and learned that it was deceased.
Officers were told by the victim that a white Chevy Malibu was driving at a high rate of speed east on Rosedale Street when the vehicle struck the canine as the victim stepped onto the roadway from his lawn. The canine was on a leash being walked by its juvenile owner. The vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed. The canine owner was able to obtain a RI passenger license plate and description of the driver. Witnesses also provided the officers with the same description of the vehicle, plate number, and confirmed the operator’s erratic operation.
