Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office announces passing of K9 Charlie
A Massachusetts K9 who served the state well is being remembered after passing away.
Sheriff Patrick McDermott and the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office have announced the passing of K9 Charlie following a courageous battle with cancer.
“K9 Charlie and his partner, Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office Captain Billy Ruprecht, served together – with distinction.
“K9 Charlie was highly trained in ballistics detection. K9 Charlie and Capt. Ruprecht served across Norfolk County, and beyond, over several years, playing critical roles in dozens of investigations and warrant searches, while recovering many firearms, ammunition, and firearm components.
“K9 Charlie was a rescue who was trained to protect and serve after he was saved from a shelter as a puppy.
“Beyond the Sheriff’s Office, K9 Charlie and Capt. Ruprecht supported Metro-LEC, special law enforcement task forces across Norfolk County, our local police departments, and federal agencies. K9 Charlie will be deeply missed.”
