Norfolk County District Attorney: One dead in afternoon shooting

Officials say that one man is dead after an afternoon shooting.

According to the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office, shortly before 2:00 this afternoon, Norwood Police responded to the area of 9 Hoyle Street in Norwood after a 911 call requesting assistance. 

Upon arrival, Norwood Police located a male suffering from a gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital – Needham where he was pronounced deceased.

The Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office are working with the Norwood Police Department to investigate this incident. 

The investigation is active and ongoing.  Based on preliminary information, Norwood Police Chief Christopher Padden advises that there is no cause for the public to be alarmed for their own safety.
