Next chapter in Massachusetts man’s life a little richer after winning $1 million lottery prize

The next chapter of a Massachusetts man’s life is going to be a little sweeter thanks to a recent big lottery win.

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Thomas Daige of Leicester is the winner of a $1 million prize on a Powerball ticket purchased in Massachusetts for the multi-state game’s Saturday, December 14 drawing that featured a $47.9 million jackpot.

Daige won the prize after the first five numbers on his Quic Pic ticket matched those selected in the drawing.

He claimed his $1 million prize (before taxes) last week at the Massachusetts State Lottery’s Dorchester headquarters. He said he plans on putting the winnings towards retirement and a new set of golf clubs.

His winning ticket was purchased at Leicester Package Store, 869 Main St. in Leicester. The store receives a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
