Newport, Rhode Island man found dead in river, name of victim released
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI -The name of a man has been released after his body was pulled from the shore of the Providence River Thursday evening.
Police responded to a call of a body found by a walker on the East Bay Bike Path. Officers located a deceased male along the shoreline.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Division and Bureau of Criminal Identification responded to the scene and are investigating.
44-year-old Marcus Harris of Newport was retrieved from the water by the East Providence Fire Department.
The Office of the State Medical Examiners took custody of the body for further examination and to perform an autopsy.
It does not appear suspicious at this time.
