Newport Police arrest stabbing suspect
Newport Police are looking for the public’s help in locating a stabbing suspect from over the weekend.
On Sunday May 20 at approximately 1:35 a.m., Newport Police Officers responded to the Cumberland Farms Store located at 125 Broadway for a report of a stabbing. Officers arrived on scene and located a 28 year old male victim suffering from a laceration to his body. Based on a scene investigation and witnesses, officer were able to determine that the stabbing event occurred after a disagreement between two persons and subsequently identified the suspect in this assault as 35 year old Edward E. Kettner of no known address .
An arrest warrant has been issued for Kettner for Felony Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. The victim was subsequently treated at Newport Hospital and released.
