A new Fall River city councilor is introducing himself to his constituents ahead of an important vote.

Owner of Hong Meas Restaurant Ricky Tith is issuing an introductory video today on his campaign Facebook page where he will state the following:

“I believe Fall River is good place to live and work.

“Hi, my name is Ricky Tith, and I am the newest member of your city council.

“I am a local small businessman. I have been an active member of the Fall River community for many years. I have been a member of the Fall River Cultural Council and president of the Cambodian Society of America. These positions have given me experience to represent people like you with different backgrounds and interests and district priority.

“If you have expertise firsthand knowledge or an opinion you would like to share about something we are discussing in the city council meeting, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

“Now that you know a little bit about me, I hope you can reach out to me so I could learn more about you.

“As you could tell I am not the best English speaker, but I am really really good at listening.

“Thank you for watching.”

In the 2023 election for City Council, Laura Sampson grabbed the 9th spot beating out Ricky Tith by just over 500 votes which has allowed Tith to take Sampson’s spot for the remainder of her term after she stepped down last month.

Tith issued the following statement after his swearing in last month.

“Today, April 23, 2025, marks a significant milestone in my journey! I was sworn in as a member of the Fall River City Council this morning at 10:00 a.m. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Lord, my parents, and my amazing wife for their unwavering support through every challenge. Your belief in me has been invaluable as I step into this role. I am also deeply grateful to the 2,948 residents who placed their trust in me during the 2023 election—I am committed to serving our community with integrity and dedication. Together, we can achieve great things!”

Tith will be thrown into the fire right off the bat as the City Council is expected to vote again on Tuesday whether or not interim Fall River Police Chief Kelly Furtado will become permanent chief.
