New eatery and night spot opens in Swansea at familiar location
A new eatery opened this week in Swansea at a location that will be familiar to many area residents.
Swansea Selectman Christopher Carreiro of Lands End Realty announced in December that the sale of The Happy Clam AKA “The Clam” had been finalized.
The establishment at 378 Ocean Grove had been sold to JR’s Seaside Tavern Inc. with David Duarte as president/director and Odete Duarte as Secretary and Treasurer.
The establishment infuses American cuisine with Portuguese flavors. JR’s also features a pool table and live entertainment at night.
While the business has already opened, the full menu won’t be available until Monday.
Management told Fall River Reporter that JR’s is open Sunday through Thursday from noon to 11:00 p.m. and Friday/Saturday from noon to 1:00 a.m. with it being the winter months.
The Happy Clam was a neighborhood bar and grill where you could play pool and watch tv. The spot was built in 1940 on 2,432 square feet.
JR’s plans to inject some new energy into the area after renovating the property.
