A popular Fall River bakery is changing ownership, but don’t expect a ton of changes.
New Boston Bakery, a longtime bakery-café at 279 New Boston Road, announced the move Wednesday on social media courtesy of owner Jim Souza.
“Thirty-four years ago, I opened the doors to New Boston Bakery never imagining where the road would take me or all the wonderful people/friends I would meet along the way. We are not closing but New Boston Bakery has a new owner, and nothing will be changing. From the beginning there have been long days, early mornings, challenges, successes and more memories than I can count.
“The success of New Boston Bakery did not happen alone. I must give special thanks to my Mom & Dad who have passed and were so passionate about my happiness and success they did all that they could to help me succeed, my brother Mike who was critical in the renovations of both the old and current shop, my sister Gale who did everything and anything to make sure the day to operations ran smoothly and John who became a part of the business elevating it to a whole new level with our full lunch menu. I also would like to thank all my employees past and present that also did their special part to bring the business to where it is today. It is amazing to think of the thousands of people that have walked thru our doors, became friends and truly cared about our success thru their patronage. It did/ does not go unnoticed and I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart.
“I would formally like to introduce all of you to Jared Andreozzi who has purchased New Boston Bakery and plans on continuing our traditions, pastries and food items just like we always have. The current staff is staying on, and John and myself will each be taking two days off a week so you will still see both of us around. Jared does have a few new ideas in his head that I know you are going to love but I will leave it to him to tell you. Please stop in anytime to see all of us, enjoy everything that you always have and say hello to Jared. We all wish that New Boston Bakery makes all of his dreams come true.”
The spot is known for from-scratch pastries (scones, muffins, turnovers, cookies), homemade soups, salads, and gourmet sandwiches.
