New Bedford native, Wareham police officer, injured in ATV crash while on trail
A South Coast police officer has been injured after an ATV incident.
On Saturday, at approximately 3:15 p.m., New Hampshire Fish and Game was notified of a single vehicle ATV crash on the Alpha Trail in Jericho Mountain State Park in Berlin.
The operator of the ATV identified as 25-year-old Lindsey Vermette of Wareham, MA, had rolled the ATV over onto herself in a particularly rocky section of trail and was pinned underneath. Other members of Vermette’s riding party removed the ATV and called 911. Before the arrival of rescue personnel, members of her riding party decided to put Vermette in a UTV and drive her from the scene.
She was driven to an awaiting ambulance and transported to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin for treatment of unknown injuries.
Vermette is an officer with the Wareham Police Department and a New Bedford native.
Vermette is an experienced rider and did have on appropriate riding gear to include a helmet and goggles.
