New Bedford man killed in motorcycle crash identified; remembered as true patriot who took tremendous pride in his Country

A local man who died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash has been identified.

According to the Raynham Police and Fire Departments, on Friday, at just before 9:45 p.m., the Raynham Police and Fire Departments responded to a 911 call reporting that a motorcycle and an SUV were involved in a crash at the intersection of South Street East and Hill Street.

 A preliminary investigation has determined that a 2010 Ford Explorer, operated by a 22-year-old Avon man, collided with a 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven straight on South St. East by a 52-year-old New Bedford man.

According to an obituary, 52-year-old Scott B. Piché was on his way to work at DePuy Johnson & Johnson in Raynham before tragedy struck.

“Scott had a deep love for life and the people around him…..In his free time, Scott enjoyed playing golf, listening to country music, cooking, and spending time at Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den enjoying live music. He also loved to ride his motorcycle and was known for his strong personal convictions and passions. Scott was an avid firearms enthusiast and an avid art collector and took great pride in what he valued most.

“Scott was a true patriot who took tremendous pride in his Country, his President and the American Flag. His children were his world, and he was a devoted friend to many.”

Services will be announced in the near future.

The crash remains under investigation by the Raynham Police Department and State Police.
