A local man pled not guilty Tuesday in a Fall River court after authorities seized approximately 1.7 kilograms of cocaine, as well as a significant amount of fentanyl.

According to Fairhaven Police, last month, Detectives, in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration and with the assistance of the New Bedford Police Department, executed multiple search warrants.

These warrants were obtained after a lengthy investigation into drug-related activity.

During the execution of the warrants, detectives seized approximately 1.7 kilograms of cocaine, 11 grams of fentanyl, 265 suspected pressed fentanyl pills and $11,000 in cash.

As a result of the investigation, 28-year-old Calixto Smith was arrested and charged with Trafficking in 200 Grams or More of Cocaine, Trafficking in 10 Grams or More of Fentanyl, Distribution of a Class B Drug, and Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Laws.

According to court records, Smith was previously arraigned in New Bedford District Court where he pled not guilty and was held without bail after a dangerousness hearing.

On Tuesday in Fall River Superior Court, Smith was held without bail pending the results of a detention hearing.

He has a pre-trial conference scheduled for December 16th.
