New Bedford man has long road to recover after horrific highway crash

A New Bedford man is recovering after a horrific highway crash that took place on Monday.

According to Trooper Brandon Doherty from Massachusetts State Police Office of Media Relations, at 6:38 a.m., Troopers responded to the 1.9-mile marker of Route 140 North, in New Bedford for a single-vehicle rollover crash.

Upon arrival, Troopers found the operator, the sole occupant, trapped inside the vehicle.

The man was extricated and transported to a nearby hospital.

Austin Cosmo’s mother took to social media to give an update on his condition.

“He made it out, he is here with us, and it is gonna be a long road, but he’s got this!!! I thank you all for your love, prayers, concern & kind words but please keep the prayers going.”

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, Cosmo has had several surgeries to stabilize him.
