New Bedford and Dartmouth business owners come to aid of Taunton mother of 5 when she needed it most

Some believe in angels. Sometimes they take human form as they did in Bristol County this week.
Lorienn Higgins, a mother of five from Taunton, Massachusetts, was gifted a “miracle van” this week, by New Bedford car salesman Russ Leite.
This act of generosity came after her 21-year-old son, Dyllan, was diagnosed with lymphoma, forcing Lorienn to split her time between a Boston hospital and home.
The van helps ease her travel burden, as she had been driving daily to support her family.
A Dartmouth business, Lily Pad Boutique, also began raising funds for the Higgins family by donating 100% of vintage jewelry sales proceeds and creating a GoFundMe fundraiser.
Leite posted a statement on social media.
“Thank you to everyone who commented on the GoFundMe page about Loreinn Higgins desperate need for a dependable vehicle to transport her son Dyllan back and forth to Boston for treatment for an aggressive form of cancer in his chest. This really caught my attention because so many of you commented to “call Russ Leite at Pinnacle Auto Sales”. Loreinn is a selfless single mom of 5 children, which is never easy in itself. When you add to that, a seriously ill child, it can be overwhelming at best. Lorienne’s incredible friends Kara Magoni and Valerie Lacasse were the angels that helped make this dream a reality. With my incredible wife June Leite by my side, we were able to donate a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan that has been fully serviced and all taxes and registry fees paid to the family. I am so blessed and fortunate that with God’s grace, we were able to pull off this small gesture of giving this family a hand up and a huge thank you to all of you for making me aware of this incredible family and friends. God bless.”
Good job to all involved.
Sometimes angels don’t have wings.
