National Weather Service issues Flash Flood Watch
The National Weather Service in Boston/Norton has expanded the:
* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of Massachusetts and northern Rhode Island, including the following counties, in Massachusetts, Bristol, Norfolk, and Suffolk. In northern
Rhode Island, Kent and Providence.
* Through this evening
* Widespread showers and thunderstorms with localized torrential rainfall are anticipated this afternoon and evening. Some localized areas may see rainfall rates reach or exceed 2 inches in one hour. If this occurs over our vulnerable locations…localized urban flash flooding would be possible.
* The potential exists for both localized urban flash flooding and for flash flooding of small streams in southern New England.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
