Names released of couple killed in fatal highway crash in Barrington, RI
The names of two people who died after a highway crash Saturday morning have been released.
According to Police Chief Michael Correia, just before 8:15 a.m., the Barrington Dispatch Center received a call through the E 911 center of car “accident with possible injuries”, additionally “vehicle in the woods” on the Wampanoag Trail, heading southbound at the Barrington / East Providence line.
Barrington Police Department and Barrington Fire Department personnel responded. Upon arrival, Officers found a single car off the roadway in the woods. The vehicle sustained heavy damage.
Both occupants, a male operator in his 30’s and a female passenger in her 20’s were transported to RI Hospital where they were pronounced dead. Both parties were seat belted.
According to family and a GoFundMe fundraiser, the victims were 33-year-old Yusbel Rivero Hernandez and 23-year-old Adiena Pupo Quile.
Those who knew the couple expressed that they were both young and full of dreams that were cut short by this tragedy.
Speed appears to be a factor. Barrington Police accident reconstruction Officers and Detectives are investigating.
