Name released of Fall River man who died at Swansea Beach Sunday

Authorities continue to investigate a death that occurred Sunday in Swansea.

According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, Jason Davis, 39, of Fall River, was the tragic death Sunday evening.

According to Swansea police, at 6:15 p.m., the Swansea Police Department received a 911 call regarding a person “in distress”, in the water, at the Swansea Town Beach. While Officers were responding, they were advised that the person had been pulled from the water and bystanders were starting CPR. The male had been at the beach with a friend, who noticed that he was in trouble and called for help. The friend and three by-standers assisted in pulling the male from the water.

​CPR was continued by Patrol Officers Keith Lake, Amy Gallant and Macaila Saunders. Swansea Ambulance Paramedics provided Advanced Life Support measures and the male was transported by ambulance to the Charlton Memorial Hospital Emergency Department, where the male was pronounced deceased a short time later.

This incident remains under investigation by Swansea Police Detective Keith Chomka as well as the Massachusetts State Police Detectives Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
