Name released concerning fatal crash involving Fall River, Taunton, Brockton residents
A 24-year-old Taunton woman died earlier this morning when a vehicle she was a passenger in collided with the rear of a tractor trailer on Route 44 in Taunton.
According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, the deceased has been identified as Mallory Humphreys.
A preliminary investigation indicates a gray 2015 Infiniti being operated by a 27-year-old Fall River man was driving eastbound on Route 44 in the area of 608 Winthrop Street at just before 1:30 a.m. when it rear-ended a tractor trailer that was also driving eastbound.
The driver of the Infiniti was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer, a 39-year-old Brockton man, was uninjured. Humphreys was declared deceased at the scene.
The crash is under investigation by Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office, Taunton Police and the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit.
