Fall River, MA – WSAR 1480 AM / 95.9 FM owners Jim and Bob Karam, along with Fall River businessmen Cliff Ponte and Michael Silvia (publisher of Fall River Reporter), today announced that the Joint Venture agreement previously established for the management transition and planned relocation of the station has been mutually terminated.
The parties have amicably agreed to end the arrangement that was announced in January 2026, which would have transferred ownership to Ponte (as Program Director) and Silvia (as General Manager), in coordination with the Karams, and included relocating WSAR’s studios and transmission infrastructure back to Fall River in 2026.

Both sides expressed appreciation for the good-faith discussions and shared commitment to the station’s legacy as a vital voice for the South Coast region. The decision to cancel the agreement was reached after careful consideration and reflects a mutual understanding that proceeding was no longer the best path forward at this time.

WSAR will continue under the ownership and management of Jim and Bob Karam. The station will remain dedicated to serving Fall River and surrounding communities with quality, community-oriented content.

The Karams, Ponte, and Silvia thank the listeners, advertisers, and partners for their continued support and look forward to WSAR’s ongoing role in the region.
