There has been social media chatter concerning the criminal record of a man by the same name and age as the victim, however, Estrella could not confirm that the record was Blair’s. The referenced criminal record has resulted in criticism of the victim.
A GoFundMe fundraiser from a man who says he is a friend of Blair, states that he was a “friend whose life was defined by his unwavering compassion and courage. Jerry was not a perfect person—he faced his share of challenges and made mistakes, just like any of us. But what truly set him apart was his determination to grow and his willingness to help others whenever he could. If someone needed support, Jerry was there, offering what he had without hesitation. His kindness and loyalty touched countless lives, and his legacy is one of selfless love and protection.”
The friend also stated that “Jerry was taken from us while protecting others, standing up for their dignity, safety, and right to live” amid talk that Blair was standing up for other homeless at the time of the stabbing which has not been confirmed by authorities.
The incident remains under active investigation by detectives.
