Murder, Manslaughter, and Mayhem revisited at Fall River Library
Local author John B. “Red” Cummings will discuss the latest volume in his series on Fall River-area murders at the Fall River Public Library, 104 North Main Street, on Wednesday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m. Copies of Murder, Manslaughter, and Mayhem on the Southcoast, Volume Two, will be available for purchase and signing.
The first volume of Mr. Cummings’ true crime chronicles covered the 19th and early 20th century, with such notorious crimes as the Borden murders and the slaying of mill girl Sarah Maria Cornell. This second volume focuses on the years from 1970-1999, including the “cult” murders from the 1970s and the New Bedford highway killings of the late 1980s. More than 100 murders are covered, many of them still unsolved.
In addition to his Murder, Manslaughter, and Mayhem series, John B. “Red” Cummings is the author of other local history titles, including Cream of the Crop: Fall River’s Best and Brightest and The Last Fling: Hurricane Carol 1954.
This free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Fall River Public Library. For further information, contact the library at 508-324-2700.
