Multiple rescue crews respond after man jumps from Newport Bridge
NEWPORT RI – A man reportedly jumped from a local bridge on Sunday morning.
According to scanner transmissions, just after 7:00 a.m., a call came into dispatch for a possible water rescue in the area of the Claiborne Pell Newport Bridge.
Minutes later, responders reported that the man had jumped and could be seen in the water drifting underneath the bridge.
Rescue crews located the jumper and began CPR as they were in the process of bringing him to shore.
His condition is not known.
