Multiple incidents result in multiple deaths on I-95 in Attleboro
Troopers from multiple Massachusetts State Police units have responded to two separate scenes on Interstate 95 in Attleboro, one northbound and the other southbound, both occurring in close proximity of time. Preliminary information indicates both incidents have resulted in fatalities.
At this point it is not known if there is any connection between the incidents.
At approximately 9:45 p.m., Troopers responded to I-95 southbound near Exit 1 for a body in the roadway. Responding units determined that the victim, a male, is deceased. Preliminary investigation suggests the victim was a pedestrian who was fatally struck by a motor vehicle which did not remain at the scene. No vehicle was located on scene.
At roughly the same time, a motor vehicle traveling northbound on I-95 went off the roadway near Exit 5 and rolled over into the woods. An occupant in that vehicle is deceased.
According to MSP, at both locations, the scenes have been secured and are being processed. The southbound side is shut down in the area of Exit 1. The northbound incident has the right lane closed near Exit 5.
The investigation into the facts and circumstances of both incidents are being investigated by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the State Police Detective Unit for Bristol County.
