Multiple families displaced after Fall River Fire Department extinguishes blaze at multi-family home

Several people were displaced after a weekend fire in Fall River.

A call came into dispatch at approximately 6:45 a.m. Saturday for smoke showing from the second floor of a multi-story home at 65 Cherry Street.

According to Captain Eric Caffrey, the response was for a call from a neighbor, who reported smoke coming from the multifamily residence.

Upon arrival, crews confirmed there was visible smoke coming from the structure and began an attack on the second-floor apartment. Heavy smoke condition within the apartment along with visible fire was contained to the kitchen, before extinguishment.

No injuries were reported.

The fire caused approximately $30,000 in damage.

2 families were displaced, including 4 adults and no children.

In total, 2 Cars, 4 engines, 2 ladders, Heavy Rescue 1, Medic 4, Squad 11, Police, Emergency Medical Services, and Special Services EMA responded to the scene.

Last units cleared at 2:30 p.m.

The fire is under investigation.
