Multi-vehicle afternoon crash sends one to Rhode Island Hospital by Boston MedFlight, another to New Bedford trauma center

Multiple people were injured after a collision on Tuesday afternoon in Massachusetts.

According to police, at just after 2:30 p.m., the Bourne Police Department announced that State Road was closed in both direction in the area of the Route 3 on-ramp due to a two-car motor vehicle accident.

According to Bourne Fire/Rescue, one patient was flown by Boston MedFlight to the trauma center at Rhode Island Hospital. A second patient was transported by Wareham EMS to the trauma center at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Bourne PD stated that the road was reopened at approximately 4:00 p.m.

The crash is under investigation.
