MSPCA-Angell issues update after 17 dogs, 2 cats, 1 guinea pig, 1 turtle, and 6 horses seized from Massachusetts home
In an update from an incident on Friday, MSPCA-Angell have taken in a large group of local animals-seventeen dogs, two cats, one guinea pig, one turtle, and six horses- that were removed from a Middleborough property at 53 Precinct Street.
The dogs were found living in unsanitary conditions in the basement with no access to food or water. Many of them are underweight, and they’re going to need a lot of care. The cats, turtle, and guinea pig were found in similar states, as were the horses who were being kept outside in unsanitary conditions.
The MSPCA volunteered to take all of the animals not only to keep them together, but to also ensure that they have access to veterinary resources if any need advanced medical care, something they will learn as they do complete medical and behavior evaluations.
“No matter what level of care they’ll end up needing, taking them in is absolutely going to strain our resources, which are already stretched incredibly thin. Because these animals were seized, we’re looking at a huge financial burden associated with the ongoing daily care they’ll need for an undetermined amount of time. We expect the cost of caring for the animals to be substantial. Please give now to support these animals in this next chapter of their lives.”
The animal seizure was a coordinated effort between MSPCA Law Enforcement and Middleborough Police, Animal Control, and Health Department officials.
Charges have yet to be filed.
