MSP: 39-year-old man killed in Thanksgiving crash on Route 495
Tragedy has struck on Thanksgiving as a man has been killed in a serious crash this morning.
According to Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Troopers assigned to State Police-Foxboro responded to reports of a single vehicle crash on Route 495 southbound at mile marker 33 in Mansfield. Mansfield Fire and Troopers from State Police-Middleboro also responded to assist.
Upon their arrival, Troopers located a 2009 Lexus sedan that, for reasons still under investigation, left the roadway and crashed into a tree. The operator, a 39-year-old man from Rumford, R.I., was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was declared deceased on scene by paramedics. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The left and middle lanes of Route 495 southbound were closed to facilitate crash reconstruction and cleanup. The scene was clear at approximately 7:30 a.m.
The exact cause and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police along with the Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, and the Troop H State Police Detective Unit.
