Motorized scooter rider medflighted with serious injuries after collision with car in Plainville
PLAINVILLE — Fire Chief Richard Ball and Police Chief James Floyd report that the Plainville Fire and Police Departments responded to a crash involving a motorized scooter on Monday evening.
At 5:11 p.m., emergency officials received a call about a crash at the intersection of Messenger (Route 106) and Taunton (Route 152) streets. Upon arriving, first responders discovered the male operator of a motorized scooter on the ground.
A preliminary investigation shows that a motor vehicle collided with the scooter while making a left turn into traffic.
The scooter operator was transported by ambulance to a landing zone at the Wood School, and then by medical helicopter to a Rhode Island hospital. He is seriously injured, but stable.
The operator of the motor vehicle that collided with the scooter declined medical attention.
The crash remains under investigation by the Plainville Police Department.
