Motorcyclist dies after collision with vehicle on Cape Cod
A motorcycle rider has been killed after a crash on Cape Cod during the extended Memorial Day weekend.
According to Eastham Police, on Monday, just before 2:45 p.m., the Eastham Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of Massasoit Road at Edgewood Road for a reported motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.
Upon arrival, police located a motorcycle off the side of the road and the operator of the motorcycle on the ground, a short distance away. First arriving officers initially attempted to render aid to the victim, however it was quickly determined that the operator of the motorcycle was deceased at the scene.
The crash is currently under investigation by the Eastham Police Department and Cape Cod Regional Crash Reconstruction Team.
Massasoit Road was closed between Route 6 and the rear entrance of the Sea Toller Plaza for approximately three and a half hours while the on-scene investigation was conducted.
The Eastham Police Department was assisted by the Wellfleet Police Department, Brewster Police Department and Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office.
The names of the involved parties are being withheld at this time pending notification to family members.
