Two people have been injured after a collision between a car and motorcycle.

According to police, on Wednesday just before 9:15 p.m., members of the Warwick Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Warwick Ave. and Edgehill Rd. for the report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries.

The two vehicles involved in the crash were a silver Toyota Camry and a Honda CBR600 motorcycle.

It is believed that the motorcycle operator was traveling southbound on Warwick Ave. at a high rate of speed as he approached the intersection of Edgehill Rd. The female operator of the silver sedan was traveling northbound on Warwick Ave. and attempting to take a left-hand turn onto Edgehill Rd. as the motorcycle entered the intersection.

The male operator of the motorcycle was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by WFD Rescue personnel with a laceration to the head and other significant injuries. He is in critical condition despite wearing a helmet.

The female operator of the silver sedan was also transported to receive additional medical treatment for minor injuries received as a result of the crash.

Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the cause of this crash. Other factors are still being investigated.
