Motorcycle rider in critical condition after crashing, falling over Route 6 overpass

A local weekend motorcycle crash resulted in a man being thrown off an overpass.

Just after 5:30 p.m., on Sunday, a call came into dispatch for a motorcycle crash on Route 6 in Providence where the rider went over the embankment and landed near the Westminster Street on ramp on Route 10.

The operator was unconscious, but breathing.

According to WJAR10, the rider dropped about 60 feet and was in critical condition at Rhode Island Hospital.

A witness stated that the motorcyclist was in a pack of about 70 riders and was traveling very fast.

The incident is under investigation by Rhode Island State Police.
