UPDATE: Motorcade still on, other events canceled, as part of Veterans Day events in Fall River

Some of Wednesday’s Veterans Day festivities have been canceled, although not all of them.

CAN was sponsoring free live music on the grounds of Battleship Cove with the theme of “We Are One” from 11 am to 4 pm, however, there has been a change of plans according to CAN.

“Sadly, Creative Arts Network Inc. (CAN) has to cancel our entertainment and resource tables for tomorrow at the Battleship as part of Veteran’s Day. We were notified from the Health Dept this afternoon that due to Fall River’s risk level and the new phase we are in we would not be able to stay within the guidelines. Can’t tell you how disappointed we are for everyone!”

Battleship Cove will still be offering free admission for veterans, active military, guard, and reserve personnel.

Sponsored by The Fall River War Veterans’ Council & City of Fall River, the Veterans Day motorcade will still be taking place on November 11th. Form Up will take place at 10:30 am. with the motorcade beginning at exactly 1:00 p.m.

All groups and organizations, private or public, non-profit or private business are invited to participate in this year’s Motorcade event. Each vehicle of transport; cars, trucks, bikes, trailers, etc. shall display a sign or emblem designating who they are and/or that they appreciate and support America’s Veterans. Each entry will be pre-assigned to a specific Division in the Motorcade.

The Motorcade will form up on Water Street, at 10:30 a.m. in front of Boneheads, Bogan Industries, the Marine Museum and Gates to the City. The route of the Motorcade will travel EAST straight up Anawan Street, to City Hall, LEFT-NORTH on North Main Street to President Ave intersection, RIGHT-EAST on President Ave to LEFT-NORTH on Highland Ave., RIGHT-SOUTH on Robeson Street to Plymouth Ave and Bedford Street, LEFT-EAST on Bedford Street to Eastern Ave. RIGHT-SOUTH on Eastern Ave to Brayton Ave., SOUTH-LEFT on Stafford Road to Globe Street intersection, RIGHT-WEST on Globe Street to Globe 4 Corners, RIGHT-NORTH at Globe 4 Corners onto SOUTH MAIN STREET passing City Hall, and then LEFT-WEST on Bedford/Central Street ENDING at Gates to the City on Water Street.

The public can enjoy the Motorcade from the comfort of their home, sidewalk, porch or yard.
