Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut could see more damaging weather as feel like temperatures approach triple digits.

According to the National Weather Service, a Heat Advisory will be in effect through 8:00 p.m. Tuesday across much of southern New England, except the Berkshires and the islands. Heat index values or “feels like” temperatures are expected to reach between 95°F and 100°F.

Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

The NWS is also continuing to monitor the potential for an active Tuesday across southern New England, starting as early as the afternoon and lasting through the late evening. The primary hazard is localized flash flooding due to rainfall rates of 1-2″ per hour. There is also a secondary threat of a few strong to severe thunderstorms, which could produce damaging straight-line winds.
