Most of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut expected to see rain, multiple inches of snow

Rain and multiple inches of snow are expected to fall at different points this upcoming weekend.

According to the National Weather Service Boston, there is increasing potential for light to moderate snow from Sunday afternoon into early Monday for southern New England.

Motorists should be prepared for slippery travel Sunday night. The bulk of the snow should be over by the Monday morning commute.

The forecast:

Today

Sunny, with a high near 36. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph.

Tonight

Increasing clouds, with a low around 23. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph after midnight.

Saturday

Rain likely, mainly after 4pm. Patchy fog after 4pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 47. South wind 7 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Saturday Night

Rain likely before 8pm, then a chance of showers between 8pm and 1am. Patchy fog before 11pm. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 34. South wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday

A chance of rain after 3pm, mixing with snow after 5pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. North wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Sunday Night

Snow, mainly before 2am. Low around 18. North wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
