Morning Fall River crash knocks out power, sends driver to trauma center
A driver was injured and is facing charges after a morning crash in Fall River.
According to Deputy Chief Barden Castro, Fall River Police Officers responded to the 100 block of Lawton Street just before 4:45 a.m. for reports of a motor vehicle crash where the involved vehicle, a Toyota, had struck a utility pole.
Crews arrived to find a utility pole completely snapped in half.
Castro stated that Officer William Sadler spoke with the 23-year-old female operator, a Fall River resident, who was also the sole occupant. Due to the driver’s injuries, she was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford for medical treatment.
According to residents in the area, homes lost power with power lines down due to the collision.
A citation was issued, and the driver will be summoned into Fall River District Court. Witnesses stated that the driver appeared to be impaired. Castro could not confirm the exact criminal charges the driver was facing as the report on the incident has not been completed as of noon Saturday.
