Moped rider seriously injured in multi-vehicle crash near I-495 off-ramp
Chief Edward J. Walsh reports that the Taunton Police Department is actively investigating a serious crash that occurred this morning involving a motorcycle and SUV.
At 6:28 a.m., Taunton Police responded to the area of the Bay Street and I-495 intersection for reports of a crash. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a moped and GMC Acadia that had collided near the I-495 off-ramp.
The moped operator, a 60-year-old Taunton man, was transported by ambulance to the BJ’s parking lot, where he was then flown by a medical helicopter to an area hospital.
The driver of the GMC Acadia, a 47-year-old Carver woman, did not report injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Taunton Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Unit.
