Authorities say that a Cape Cod collision on Sunday has resulted in injuries.

According to a statement released by police at approximately 11:30 a.m., officers from the Bourne Police Department responded to the intersection of Shore Road and Bell Road, for a report of a motor vehicle crash with injury.

Officers arrived on scene and observed that a 2022 Ford Explorer was struck by a moped head on.

The 17-year-old operator of the moped, who is a Bourne resident, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was transported to a regional trauma center with what appeared to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The 39-year-old operator of the Explorer, who is also a Bourne resident, sustained no injuries.

The Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene as well, and the crash remains under investigation at this time.

The roadway was closed in the area during the investigation.
