Missing Rhode Island man found deceased; family advocating for mental health as online fundraiser created
The family of a Rhode Island man is grieving the sudden and tragic loss of a beloved brother, son, and friend who took his own life and is advocating for mental health awareness.
According to family and a GoFundMe fundraiser, Angelo Felder was a kind, loving, supportive, and kind-hearted man with “the sweetest soul.”
“He was so kind, so loving, so supportive, so kindhearted. He truly always had the sweetest soul, and we miss him so much.”
The family was devastated to learn that Angelo, who had been reported missing, had been in the city morgue for two weeks before they were notified despite repeated attempts by the family to locate him through hospitals and police.
The family hopes Angelo’s story brings attention to the silent struggles many face with mental health.
“We also hope that sharing my brother’s story reminds others of the importance of mental health,” they wrote. “So many people struggle silently, and we encourage everyone to check in on the people they love, listen without judgment, and seek or offer support when it’s needed. No one should have to face their darkest moments alone.”
Mental health resources are available 24/7 through the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for anyone in need.
