A missing Massachusetts teen that was found deceased this week is being remembered.

Following an extensive search for 17-year-old Brian Lopez of Lynn, investigators Tuesday discovered his body in Walden Pond near the Saugus-Lynnfield line.

The search for Lopez, which began on Sunday morning, had focused on the Lynn Woods Reservation, known to be one of his favorite spots. At this time, investigators do not believe anyone else was involved in the death and there is no indication of danger to the general public. Lopez was a rising senior at Lynn Classical High School.

According to an obituary, Lopez “started working at The Food Project in Lynn and Beverly 3 weeks ago, to begin saving for college. He was an avid reader, loved playing video games, going for walks and exercising. He adored his nieces and nephews and always enjoyed playing different games with them and his siblings. He was their favorite uncle, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.”

A Funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. from the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt. 129), Lynn followed by a Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Lynn at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home.

The Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will make the final determination as to cause of death.

I also recently lost my mom, and I know how deep the loss and pain of a very loved one is. The thing I know is that our days on this earth are counted. They are strictly programmed by The Most High God in heaven. As Ecclesiastes 12 says The body is returned to earth where it belongs because as you are taken from the dust and to dust your body is returned but your spirit is returned to God Who gave it to you… Therefore, don’t lose hope.. if you believe in Almighty Jesus Christ you will see your lovely son again. Jesus Christ says I am the Way, the Truth, and The Life No one goes to The Father only just through Me. John 14. Revelation 21-22. May Almighty God give you all the strength to be strong in this difficult time. My deepest condolences to his family and school friends.
