Missing 63-year-old man dead after being found in water in Norfolk County
The search for a missing person has come to a tragic ending in Norfolk County.
According to police, on Friday, at approximately 11:00 p.m. the Town of Walpole’s Emergency Communications Center received an emergency call reporting a missing person, possibly in the water off Bullard Street. At that time Walpole Police and Walpole Fire personnel were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, it was learned that a 63-year-old male was missing and had last been seen near the waterline. Emergency search operations were immediately begun. Walpole Fire Department personnel utilized a watercraft and quickly located the victim. A water rescue was accomplished, and life resuscitation measures were quickly implemented. The male victim was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
This incident is currently under investigation by the Walpole Police Department’s Detectives Bureau, along with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police and the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office.
The victim’s name has not yet been released.
