Miles of gas pipe replacement set to take place in Fall River, Westport, Somerset, Swansea
In early April, Liberty Utilities intends to resume its plan to update and improve its natural gas distribution system which will impact quite a few area roads.
The Gas Leaks Act of 2014 requires Liberty to replace all of its priority piping within 20 years which is expected to reduce methane emissions and make the system safer and more reliable.
In 2021, Liberty expects to complete approximately 26 miles of pipe replacement throughout Fall River, Somerset, Westport, and Swansea.
Work is scheduled to take place beginning April 5th in the Flint and Highlands neighborhoods in Fall River which will involve many streets in those areas.
The work in Westport will consist of Faulkner Street, Mt Pleasant Street, Elmwood, Lenox Ave, Acushnet Ave, Pine Tree Ave, Warren Ave, Bassett Street, Maynard St, Hillside Ave, and Johnson Street.
Pipe replacement will take place on Highland Road in Somerset.
Liberty will also be doing work in Swansea on Sharps Lot Road from Stevens to House #424, Tennyson Road, and Cedar Avenue.
