Middleboro man reportedly stabbed to death remembered as a hard-working father who gave of himself

A Middleborough man fatally stabbed late last month is being remembered.

According to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz, Andrew Horsman, 41, pleaded not guilty to one count of murder during his arraignment in Wareham District Court, where he was ordered held without bail.

The incident began around 8:00 p.m. on June 28th when Middleborough Police received multiple 911 calls reporting a fight and a stabbing at a residence on 19 Fairview Street.

Responding officers and emergency personnel found a man with multiple stab wounds, later identified as 66-year-old Paul Pomerleau, who was transported to Morton Hospital and pronounced dead at 8:52 p.m.

Witness interviews led Middleborough Police to identify and arrest Horsman near the scene without incident.

Witnesses reported that an argument over a steak dinner at the home escalated to the stabbing, with a steak knife found near Pomerleau’s body.

Investigators determined Pomerleau suffered 17 stab wounds, and after the attack, Horsman allegedly poured lighter fluid on the victim’s body.

Pomerleau had been in a long-term relationship with Horsman’s mother.

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser created by his daughter, Pomerleau “was a hard-working, loving father and grandfather who gave so much of himself to others. He was a logger, a handyman, a coffee-lover, and someone who made people feel welcome no matter what.”

Horsman’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 28, 2025.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
