Middle Street, Kennedy Park improvements begin in Fall River
Fall River, MA – Construction of the Middle Street drainage improvements is starting. A contract has been approved with K.R. Rezendes of Assonet, MA for $5,352,771.50. The project is being funded by a Hazard Mitigation Grant through the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency and with a State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan through the MA DEP/MA Clean Water Trust.
The Middle Street drainage improvements will address periodic flooding in the area and separate stormwater drainage from the combined sewer system.
This construction will involve the installation of new drains in Middle Street from Whipple Street to Bay Street; green improvements including tree filter boxes and a vegetated swale in the median strip from South Main Street to Broadway. As the construction will impact a portion of Kennedy Park, restoration of those areas will result in park improvements.
The public is asked to drive cautiously in these areas and follow the detour traffic signs that will be setup in these areas during construction. Your patience is appreciated.
The project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2019 including paving of the effected streets.
