Medical call leads to four alarm fire in Bristol County with one found deceased
EASTON — One adult is deceased after a four-alarm fire at a North Main Street home, said Easton Fire Chief Justin Alexander, Easton Police Chief Keith Boone, State Fire Marshal Jon Davine, and Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III.
The Easton Fire Department was dispatched to 44 North Main Street for a medical call just after 9:20 last night. On arrival, firefighters found heavy fire at the large, single-family home.
Firefighters immediately went to work, attacking the fire and searching for occupants. One adult was located deceased inside the home. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct a formal identification procedure and determine the cause and manner of death.
The fire went to four alarms, traveling quickly throughout the 1½-story structure and drawing a large regional response. Firefighters brought the blaze under control after about two hours but continued to extinguish hotspots until the early morning hours.
The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation by the Easton Fire Department, Easton Police Department, State Police fire investigators assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s office, and State Police assigned to the Bristol DA’s office. They are assisted by the Department of Fire Services’ Code Compliance & Enforcement Unit. A DFS Rehab unit responded to support firefighter health and safety at the scene.
