Mayor: One person dead after vehicle submerged in Rhode Island waters
One person has died after a vehicle became submerged in Rhode Island waters on Thursday morning.
According to East Providence Mayor Bob Dasilva, the East Providence Police and East Providence Fire Department and Emergency Management Agency as well as the RI State Police are on scene actively working to recover a submerged vehicle and deceased person at Bold Point Park.
A call came in at approximately 5:00 a.m. after a witness stated that they saw a truck go into the Seekonk River from a boat ramp.
Late this morning, crews began to pull the vehicle to shore.
The medical examiner also arrived at the scene.
The name of the victim has yet to be released.
