Massachushetts State Police arrest armed career criminal, level 3 offender
The Massachushetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section today located and arrested an armed career criminal who robbed a Cambridge nail salon at gunpoint and then carjacked a female victim outside the salon.
According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, MSP VFAS Troopers located Dennis Kelley, 43, who is currently believed to have no permanent address, walking on Boston Common this morning. Kelley was taken into custody without incident. The Boston Police Fugitive Unit assisted Troopers at the arrest location.
Troopers developed information that Kelley might be on the Common after learning that he might be staying in Boston homeless shelters.
Kelley was transported to Boston Police Area A-1, where he was turned over to Cambridge Police.
On August 12, an investigation determined, Kelley entered Super Nails on Cambridge Street demanding money and pointing a gun at an employee. He ran out of the store and carjacked a woman, also at gunpoint, in the Twin City Plaza. The stolen vehicle was later found abandoned in Somerville.
Kelley was convicted in 2011 as an Armed Career Criminal and has also been categorized as a Level 3 Sex Offender.
