Massachusetts women arrested after allegedly holding up elderly woman to steal her medication

Two Massachusetts women have been accused of holding up an elderly woman at gunpoint for her medications.

According to West Springfield Police, On August 28th, at approximately 5:30 p.m. Patrol Officer’s and Detectives responded to the Myron Court Apartments for a robbery which had just occurred.

Upon arrival, Officers located a 65-year-old female victim upset and shaking. The victim stated she had just returned to her apartment after walking to a local pharmacy and retrieving her prescription medications.

Upon entering her apartment, she was unexpectedly followed in by Allysa Santos, of Orchard Street Springfield, who the victim was familiar with. Santos proceeded to grab the bag of medications and yelled to Mia Sanchez, of Chestnut Street Springfield, who was waiting outside in a car, to “get the gun”. As the victim and Santos briefly struggled over the medications, Sanchez entered the apartment with a silver handgun and threatened the victim.

The two assailants fled the scene onto Riverdale Street southbound.

Neighboring Police Departments were quickly notified of the incident as well as the specifics of the vehicle used.

A short time later, Springfield Police Officers stopped the vehicle with the two suspects inside. Following an investigation at both scenes, Santos and Sanchez were arrested without incident. The vehicle was towed and related items were seized as evidence.

Both Santos and Sanchez were charged with Assault and Battery on a person over 60-years of age, Armed Robbery, Assault w/ a Dangerous Weapon (Handgun), Larceny Under $1,200 and Larceny from a Person.
