Massachusetts woman released on $500 non-surety bond after reportedly driving the wrong way on the highway

A Massachusetts woman is facing charges after being accused of driving the wrong way on a highway.

According to Connecticut State Police, on Saturday at approximately 5:00 a.m., Troop D- Danielson began receiving reports of a wrong-way driver operating a black Dodge Durango traveling westbound within the I-695 eastbound travel lanes in the area of exit 1 in Killingly. Troopers responded to the area, quickly located and successfully stopped the Dodge Durango without incident just east of exit 1 on I-695.

Additional Troopers responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. The driver was identified as 23-year-old Johanna Schulz of Dover, MA.

Throughout the investigation, Schulz was exhibiting signs of impairment and was asked to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which she willingly agreed to perform. Schulz ultimately failed to perform the tests to standard and was subsequently arrested.

Schulz was transported to Troop D for processing where she was charged with Illegal Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs and Driving the Wrong Way on a Divided Highway.

Following arrest processing, Schulz was released from custody on a $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Danielson Superior Court on October 24th.
