Massachusetts woman gets surprise when she gives birth
A Massachusetts woman was in for a surprise on Tuesday. A pleasant surprise.
According to the Medford fire department, Medford Police, and Armstrong Ambulance, Tuesday a 9-1-1 call was received for a woman in labor. Ladder 2, the closest fire unit to the call, arrived on scene to find an adult woman who had already given birth to a baby girl.
The new mother was on the entrance way floor holding the child alongside a Medford Police officer. The police officer had already wrapped the baby in a blanket to keep her warm. The baby was breathing on her own and regaining color. The Ladder 2 crew provided supplemental oxygen and cut the umbilical cord.
Armstrong EMS transported both mother and child to the hospital for further evaluation.
According to Medford Fire, it was a total team effort.
The real kicker is that according to authorities, the new mom had no idea she had been pregnant!
